Biography

Kelly Sayce is principal and co-founder of Strategic Earth Consulting, a multi-disciplinary firm linking science and policy with community outreach and engagement. With over fifteen years of experience in communications and marketing, Ms. Sayce designs and implements effective community engagement and public relations programs that are designed within the framework of social marketing and rooted in the value and long-term benefits of relationship building across multi-interest audiences. She has designed communications and engagement strategies for a diverse range of clients, including California Ocean Science Trust, Ecotrust, Santa Monica Bay Restoration Foundation, the Mid-Atlantic Regional Council on the Ocean, Marine Life Protection Act Initiative, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, California State Coastal Conservancy, Reef Check Foundation, Aquarium of the Pacific, and the California Ocean Protection Council. Ms. Sayce holds a B.Sc. in biology and environmental science from Trent University, Canada, and a Masters of Applied Studies in marine biodiversity and conservation from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego. Ms. Sayce is the lead author of "Beyond traditional stakeholder engagement: Public participation roles in California’s statewide marine protected area planning process,” which was recently published in Ocean & Coastal Management.
